That is some serious efficiency- within 12 rels of its creation Dalek 774 is already in a squad.
It survived for 59 rels. JUST less than what approximates to a minute, darn.

A little rough but this is a very cool story. What a great way to portray a Dalek's point of view. I especially like how it shows how old the Dalek is at each interval. Well done! :D

I'm such a sucker for Dalek stories.

Thanks man, what do you think is rough about it? Pretty much all the repetitiveness and lack of proper grammar is based on Dalek speech.

Well not rough, but it needs to be more computer. More computer terminology. Instead of 'This Dalek is five rels old' you could say

'Unit 774 activated on 5.335.64'
Time elapsed: 15 rels

Also, Daleks don't really have a culture. Daleks aren't comrades, they're just other units. Castes are social things, again no culture for Daleks. Take out "considered" in 'Response considered satisfactory'.

Daleks never refer to themselves as 'I'. Like the Borg in star trek.

But really, all this stuff is just picky picky fine details. I really do like this story, particularly for the concept- it's so original.

We can discuss this more on note and beta the story if you like- I'd definitely like to be a part of this story :)

Nah man, I've heard regular non-insane non-pretending-to-serve-other-species Daleks say 'I' before. 'I obey' plus pretty much everything they say in their first story [link] but appart from that, yeah their language here could be a bit more computery, this is all just stuff I could imagine a dalek saying. As for castes and comrades, that's how they refer to each other in older stories (as well as how the producers refer to the new paradigm)

Thanks again though, I'm not sure what you mean by beta the story? Is that a web thing? And I think I'll try other stories, I'm going for stuff that would happen in the Doctor Who universe but wasn't explained in the show, mainly concerning enemies and not so much of the doctor. Any suggestions?

Beta just means help review and edit. And you're right about the 'I' thing. "I am your soldier." ;)

Well they never explained why the gangers clothes didn't melt...

lol I sort of meant big events, like what happened between Kaan temporal shifting out of Manhattan and the rise of the new Dalek Empire, but I tried that and it came out rubbish lol. Oh, maybe I'll write what the new paradigm Daleks did after escaping the Doctor in Victory of the Daleks... hmm... any other suggestions?

Well Caan temporal shifted to go back and save Davros. Oh! I know something they keep mentioning but never clear up- What the heck is the Nightmare Child?

Lol no I know what he did, I mean how it transpired. But, hmm, the nightmare child. I always thought of it as a black hole, maybe given that name by wary space travellers from a poetic culture.

This is really well done. Very neat idea and extremely well executed.

How long are you taking a rel to be, by the way?

Hope to see some more from you!

Well first of all thank you for the very kind words, I like to write stories that aren't quite conventional and I think doctor Who has a lot of potential for fanfic. As for rels I'm going with the Doomsday/Evolution of the Daleks examples and having it only slightly longer than one second. Meaning poor dalek 774 lives barely longer than a minute.

If you have any ideas for a story let me know and I'll come up with something. I like the idea of "what if" stories and I'm thinking of doing a "what if the reality bomb had worked" scenario.

Thanks again!

Doctor Who is definitely a series with immense fanfic potential, fully agree with you there.

Poor old Dalek. I thought that was what you were going for but wanted to be sure.

Yeah, if I think of something interesting, I'll let you know - provided it doesn't end up in my stuff!
